Hometown Christmas {Parade of Lights}

Alright, are y'all ready to check out some of our favorite decorated houses from the Christmas Light tour we took the kids on tonight?! Christmas lights are definitely one of my favorite parts of the season...again I was more excited than the kids were!!

Next year I am really hoping we can make a little trip east to visit our cousins in Utah and attend their annual Christmas Vacation-esque house lighting...it is amazing!

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!

Hometown Christmas {Santaland & Costume Party}

One thing is for sure lately we have really known how to have a good time!! From sun up to sun down today we made every minute count and we cram packed a lot of fun into this Saturday!!

We started our day by finding Olaf "asleep" in my Santa hat with a $5 bill tucked into the littles' Santa hats!

We scrambled to get ready after sleeping through the alarm, but we made it to Santaland before the doors even opened! Carter refused to go with the elf into the cafeteria to peruse the "work shop". Ethan, had money burning a hole in his pocket! He only had Daxton to shop for with his $5 and he came out with a present for Daxton and one for himself too!

We took a little rest to prepare ourselves for the super fun Spiderman party we were invited to attend this afternoon. We donned our superhero costumes and could hardly contain ourselves when Spiderman himself made an appearance!

After all the sugar we have all crashed and looking forward to a more mellow day tomorrow!

Hometown Christmas {Tree Lighting}

I'd venture to say that the number one thing on everyone's list during this time of year is shopping. That is still something I have yet to finish, I think the good ole phrase "shop til you drop" will be my mantra over the next week or so as I make a huge push to complete it all. I have to hand it to my husband (who doesn't really include me in shopping for the kids) he is almost done.

My original plan for today was to find a children's story about this being the season of giving and then take them to Target, arm them with their very own money, and let them pick out gifts for each other. Carter had other plans...

Sorry that I can't get the note to flip around to the correct format...but you get the point. I have to continuously remind myself that he is 3 and I can't make him not do typical 3 year old things!!! So we had to forgo the shopping trip tonight, but we still headed down to Victorian Square for a little hometown Christmas fun.

We met our friends, M & M down there and the kids were so delighted to see their pals. They ran around like crazies waiting for the mayor to push the magic tree lighting button and drank super hot coco.

Then it was finally time for that magical moment, they hit the lights and the tree twinkled!!

Thank you Thomas Family for sharing such fun memories with us!

Olaf Report - Day 4 {Dinner Out}

This mama got a night off from cooking, compliments of our friendly Nook elf...

...I love cooking for my family but I have never been so excited to get to go out. We have spent the last three days doing Christmas themed activities and today we decided we need to put the kids' manners to the test. One of my favorite places to go is Rosie's Cafe at The Nugget. Not only does it have so many memories from my childhood when it was The General Store, but also so many memories with our little family. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a family-friendly place.

The kids couldn't be more excited to eat pancakes, eggs and sausage for dinner! Trevor and I were in the mood for something a little more dinner related, and let me tell you their clam chowder is ah-mazing! I'm not sure Trevor loves the awful-awful at Rosie's as much as the Golden Nugget downtown but he always orders it!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and our time together. Even if Carter spilled his Sprite then his milk, Ethan talked the ENTIRE night and Daxton was in and out of the highchair every 30 seconds!!

Stay tuned for Christmas shopping with the kids, a cram packed Saturday and a Christmas light tour extravaganza!

Dear Santa

From our house to the North Pole goes our letters to Santa!! We were greeted this morning by an array of paper, stickers, and other decor for our letters to Santa.

Once we perfected and added and added and added to our lists we were good to go!

Of course the best part of the whole event was packing up in the car and heading down to Macy's to put our letters into Santa's magic mailbox. This is a tradition that started 5 years ago when Ethan was 1, and since we are all about tradition around here we couldn't disappoint!

Still trying to get our cards designed and ordered...hopefully they go out before 2015!! Merry Everything!!

Oh Christmas Tree

Since I can remember I have been in love with Noble Fir Christmas trees. After debating and perusing the selection we found our 2014 tree!!

Our little elfin friend thought it would be a good idea to get into the ornaments this morning. When the kids woke up, they were greeting by a trail of ornaments from the bedrooms to where he landed.

We managed to get the lights up, but no ornaments yet. The unexpected snow storm put a little wrench in my arrival home from work!! Hopefully we can get the tree fully decorated in the next day or two.

Hope all is merry & bright!!

He's Back!!!

Our sweet little scout elf, Olaf, is back for the holiday season. Hooray!!! He flew in from the North Pole and worked his little elfin fingers to the bone preparing a snow-covered breakfast full of our favorites.

The pipsqueaks could not believe their eyes when they came down the hall and walked into the winter wonderland Olaf created in the kitchen. They found Olaf perched atop two tiers of breakfast confections on a table covered with snow.

A gentle, but to the point reminder was perched on the table as well...for that pesky little three year old pipsqueak who thinks rules are merely suggestions!!

Olaf whipped up some mini snow-covered donuts; elf-size vanilla yogurt parfaits, and he toasted up some mitten shaped bread. And no arrival breakfast would be complete without a little something naughty...in this case chocolate milk with whipped cream and festive sprinkles! Carter was so excited his chocolate milk lasted 2 minutes and was promptly spilled all over him, my feet and the floor!!

I would say these are looks are a mix of confusion and pure happiness!!

While we ate I did the honor of reading the book for the first of many times this season.

Throughout the rest of the morning there was discussion of how Olaf spent his "off-season" and whether or not he would bring a fun breakfast again tomorrow. And of course before we left for school we had to watch The Elf Story starring Chippy, one of Olaf's friends!!

This morning was definitely a fun and festive school day breakfast! The decorations are up and Olaf has arrived...I would say Christmas has officially commenced in the Bradshaw Nook!!
